My Guarantee

At the time I give an estimate, I guarantee my price will not be any higher....no matter what may come up. For most of my custom quilts, I'll estimate my price at $12 per hour, plus materials. There will be no bad surprises - if it takes less time than I anticipate, you might see a smaller bill, but if it takes longer time than I estimate, well, it's your gain - the price will remain the same.

Long-Arm Quilting

Minimum charge:
Quilts under 1000 square inches: $30
Quilts over 1000 square inches: $40

Rate: 1.25 cents per square inch on manufactured pantographs and "my choice" custom work. Some specific custom work and select pantographs (with heavy stitching) are excepted. If I feel a quilt is going to take an unusually long time in quilting, then the customer will be informed in advance of an additional charge for the custom quilting. To calculate the cost of quilting, multiply the height by the width of the quilt, and then by .0125.

Custom Rate
Starts at 2 cents per square inch for a custom border and free-hand, my choice work within the body of the quilt.
Completely custom jobs....estimates given before work is done.

Additional Charges:

   Rush Order: 1.5 times the regular pricing - back in one to two weeks, sometimes earlier!

   Special Handling Fee: If quilt backs are not at least 5" longer and wider than the quilt top, a special handling fee of $10 will be added.

   Variegated Thread Charge:
$2 per bobbin (HQ-16 has a large bobbin - over twice that of my Bernina sewing machine); $3, if using variegated thread on both sides of the quilt.

    Quilt Turn: 10% of quilting charge; minimum: $10
(This is for specialized borders and requires completely removing the quilt from the frame, turning it 90°, and then applying the custom border to the other 2 sides of the quilt.)

    Thread Change: $10 (more than one color of thread over the front of the quilt)

Anniversary Quilt

Lots of families made specialized blocks and then my friend, Sandy, and I put them all together. Sherry Dewey quilted it. It made a great gift for our Pastor and his wife.

Photo Memory Quilts

Photos provided in electronic format, ready for printing (no editing necessary): $15 per photo or more, considering photo setting.

Price includes labor, fabric treatment, fabric printing, my choice of backing, polyester batting, sashing and borders, hanging sleve, customized label, machine binding, and long-arm machine quilting.

For fancier settings, please note additional charges listed below.

Custom Quilts

Call or email to discuss your needs. Combo-quilts are great - include both shirts and photos. What a great way to commemorate a vacation, a family reunion, or school experience!

Additional Charges

Different sized blocks (shirts or photos) – add $25 (It takes a good bit of extra time calculating the lay-out of the quilt.)

Additional fabric added to the photos or shirts to make them larger and highlight them (perhaps as the center of a log cabin/courthouse stairs block or as the center of a star block) – add $3 - $5 per block to cover additional labor and fabric needs (dependent upon what pattern is chosen).

Hand-applied binding on one side: additional 30 cents per linear inch. (This is very labor-intensive).

Specialized long-arm machine quilting: (for instance, hatching or cross-hatching.) Price varies; call for an estimate.

Shirts already cut – add $2 per shirt.

Photo editing and/or scanning: Add $3 per photo.

All shipping and taxes are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Shirt Quilts

I'll take your tee-shirts and/or sweat shirts and design a quilt made especially for you.

(Please let me do the cutting of the shirts as I have the equipment to cut them uniformly. Knits are difficult to cut without properly stabilizing the fabric first.)

No Sashing

Total cost: $11 per UNCUT shirt block (all blocks the same size).

Price includes labor, stabilizer, my choice of backing, batting, machine binding, customized label, and freehand long-arm machine quilting.

Sashing and Border

Total cost: $15 per UNCUT shirt block (all blocks the same size).

Price includes labor, stabilizer, my choice of backing, batting, sashing and borders, machine binding, customized label, and freehand meander long-arm machine quilting.
